With this project, publiekeacties initiated the development of a publication on feminism and decolonization. For this work we assembled a committee of female Afro-Belgian activists, writers and thinkers; Heleen Debeuckelaere, Gia Abrassart, Sabrine Ingabire, Anne Wetsi Mpoma, Modi Ntambwe and Tracy Bibo-Tansia. The committee focused on the question which feminist centered themes continue to be underrepresented in current conversations surrounding Belgium and decolonization. Their conversations and responses form the basis of this publication and can be listened to in the audiovisual installation.ย On July 17 2020, the publication will be launched in partnership with Onomatopee Projects (Eindhoven, NL)

“Being Imposed Upon is a timeless love letter and manual by and for black women. This book is a collection of reflections on being a woman and being black in Belgium. In the two national languages Dutch and French, we, black women, unite non-fiction essays, literary reflections, poetry, activist and academic texts around our search for freedom. This book is a tribute to our elderly, our heroes and our sisters.”
